Lord I Love the Rain juxtaposes a selection of offcuts from 2010's Bad Debt and never-heard soundtrack material from the imagined hallucinatory sci-fi epic He Wore Rings On Every Finger. The material originally written for Bad Debt—including “Father Sky,” “Westering,” and Fassbinder homage “Fox and His Friends”—maintains that record's grainy kitchen table sorrow, while the largely instrumental tunes from He Wore Rings On Every Finger wander a golden path of devotion betwixt Can's Ege Bamyasi and Fleetwood Mac's Tusk. A cover of Mike Waterson's inimitable autumn paean “Bright Phoebus” rounds out this curio from the archives. Expect Lord I Love the Rain to be fully fleshed out as an LP release in the spring of 2012.
Personnel on Lord I Love the Rain includes M.C. Taylor, Scott Hirsch, and Terry Lonergan, with help from Crowmeat Bob (horns), Patrick Main (piano), Sara Beck and Elijah Lee Taylor (voices), Megumi Stohs (fiddle), and John Hofer (drums). Mixed and mastered by Scott Hirsch. Artwork and layout by Brendan Greaves.
Songs include: Born on a Crescent Moon, Father Sky, Fox and His Friends, You Never Know, Bright Phoebus, and Westering.
